Installing on macOS

This build is not yet notarized by Apple, so macOS may block it on first launch. If you trust the download, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. Do not disable Gatekeeper.

System requirements

  • macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer
  • Apple Silicon or Intel Mac (universal build)
  • Internet access during setup if Colima, Podman, or PostgreSQL need to be installed

How to install

  1. Download the Setup installer, open the disk image, and run PS-pocketEdge Setup.
  2. Choose Quick install for reviewed defaults, or Custom install to pick your container runtime (Colima or Podman) and database.
  3. Review the paths and resource limits, then let the wizard install the control plane, agent, and desktop app.
  4. Open PS-pocketEdge from Applications and confirm your server and its containers appear.

Installing on Windows

This installer is not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC". If you trust the download, click More info, then Run anyway.

System requirements

  • Windows 11 version 22H2 or newer
  • Intel/AMD 64-bit (x64) processor with virtualization enabled
  • At least 8 GB free disk space, plus room for container images
  • Internet access during setup to install WSL, Ubuntu, Docker or Podman, and PostgreSQL if missing

How to install

  1. Download the Setup installer and run it. It installs for your user account only.
  2. Choose Quick install for detected defaults, or Custom install to pick Docker or Podman and your database. Containers run in a dedicated WSL2 Ubuntu environment; Docker Desktop is not required.
  3. Approve the administrator prompt if WSL needs to be enabled. If Windows asks to restart, restart and run Setup again to continue.
  4. Open PS-pocketEdge from the Start menu and confirm your server and its containers appear.

Installing on Ubuntu 24.04

System requirements

  • Ubuntu 24.04 LTS desktop (other distributions are not supported yet)

  • A graphical desktop session with systemd, and administrator rights
  • Internet access during setup if Docker, Podman, or PostgreSQL need to be installed
  • 2 GB free disk space, plus room for container images

How to install

  1. Download the installer for your hardware: amd64 for Intel/AMD, arm64 for ARM.
  2. Open a terminal in the download folder and check the file: sha256sum <file>.run, and compare it with the SHA-256 shown above.
  3. Run bash <file>.run as your normal desktop user, without sudo.
  4. Choose Quick install for detected defaults, or Custom install to pick Docker or Podman and your database. Approve the administrator prompts when asked.
  5. Open PS-pocketEdge from the Applications menu and confirm your server and its containers appear.
