A Compose file describes an app made of one or more services. PS-pocketEdge stores your Compose files so you can deploy them to any server, as often as you like. They live under Deployment Management → Compose files.
Create a Compose file
Click New Compose file and give it a name. You can build it in two ways and switch between them:
- Visual — add services and fill in their image, command, ports, volumes, restart policy, resource limits, health check and environment variables.
- YAML — paste or write Compose YAML directly.
Click Validate to check the file. It reports errors and any settings that are unsupported or conflict with each other.
You can also import Compose files from a Git repository so they stay in sync with your code.
Version history
Every save creates a new version. Open Version history to see past versions, select any two snapshots, including Current, and compare their YAML in a line diff, and restore an older one. Restoring keeps the current content in the history, so you can always go back.
Environment variable groups
Under Config, administrators can save named groups of environment variables for an environment — Development, Test, Staging or Production. Mark sensitive values as secret. When you deploy, you can load a group instead of typing the variables again.
Other actions
From a Compose file's menu you can Clone it, Export / copy its YAML, or delete it. Deleting removes the stored file and cannot be undone.
Example: create a small web app
Create a file named demo-web, switch to YAML and paste this example. Validate it, save it, then choose Deploy and a server with port 8081 free. Open http://SERVER_ADDRESS:8081 after deployment; use localhost when the server is your own computer.
services:
web:
image: nginx:alpine
ports:
- "8081:80"
restart: unless-stoppedTo practice version comparison, edit the host port to 8082 and save again. Version history can now compare the past snapshot with Current. The running deployment keeps port 8081 until you apply the change.
